This section describes some basic documentation, explanation, and usage examples for many useful Linux commands for those students and faculty that are unfamiliar with Linux.

man view internal Linux documentation for commands
apropos search all documented command descriptions (man pages) for a keyword
sed find and replace text from the command line
df quickly display filesystem usage and remaining space on disk
du display information regarding the size of specific files
ls List files and information about those files
cd and pwd navigate and identify the directory structure on the command line

screen open a virtual text terminal in which persistent commands may be run
